"Blackbird s[ing]ing in the dead of night ..."
A big blackbird was trapped inside our building over the weekend. We are in a three-story “high-bay” building with a two-story high door. The door was open a lot on Friday so the bird must have gotten in then. The guy at the desk next to me let the bird out when he got there early this morning.

I think the bird lived on my desk and the on next to mine because some banana peelings had been left in the trash can between the desks. That must have been all the poor thing could find to eat.

It roosted on my computer LCD display and used my coffee cup for its ‘pot.’ However, it missed the ‘pot’ a few times so there was splatter on the display screen, the keyboard, the mouse, the mouse pad, and other spots on the desk. I took a photo, but it doesn’t really give the full effect. It took 30 minutes to clean everything. The coffee still didn’t taste right though.

I love that song. I think I first heard it on a jazz instrumental album and I didn't not for months that it was a Beatles song and not only it, but all the songs on the album!

I actually typed "singing" but then thought "That wasn't all it was doing!" :)

This is so funny..."The coffee didn't taste right"...I am sorry for laughing.
I guess I have a warped sense of humor! It must have been a terrible job
to clean the mess up! I'll bet you felt like feeding the bird to your cats.
Isn't there a Nursery rhyme about a blackbird in a pie? Take care! Andrea

That was "four and twenty blackbirds" and they weren't well done because "when the pie was opened" they began to sing.

Anyway, I've cleaned up after our children and our cats and even my step dad and father-in-law, so this wasn't really too bad.

that would have to be one damned special cup for me to have kept it after a nasty bird crapped in it....I get upset when company drinks out of one of my favorite coffee cups.

It is a specail cup. My youngest son and his wife bought it for me at the Golden Gate Bridge. It's royal blue with a gold label.

Anyway, I grew up on the farm and milked cows. We strained the milk through clean dish rags and drank the milk without any processing. So I knew what went into the milk after it left the cow. :)

If the visible particles are rinsed off in warm water (and maybe a little soap) I can usually take it.
